How to Connect Email & SMS
In Settings → Notifications, add your Gmail address + app password for email and your Twilio SID, auth token, and number for SMS, then enable each channel.
Relently sends reminders and alerts from your own accounts (BYOC). Connect Gmail for email and Twilio for SMS so students see messages from your agency, not a generic sender.
Connect your channels
- Go to Settings → Notifications.
- Under Email, enter your Gmail address and a Google App Password, enable it, and use Send Test to confirm.
- Under SMS, enter your Twilio Account SID, Auth Token, and sender number, then enable it.
- Save — notifications now respect each user’s email/SMS preferences.
Frequently asked questions
Why do I need a Gmail App Password?
Google requires an App Password for third-party apps to send mail securely. Generate one in your Google Account security settings and paste it into Relently.
Is SMS required?
No. SMS is optional. If you don’t connect Twilio, students are still reached via WhatsApp and email.
Who receives email/SMS notifications?
Recipients are based on each user’s notification preferences and the event — for example deadline reminders to the assigned agent, or status updates to a student.
